ABOUT THAT IMAGE...

You also probably came here because you want to know more about the data presented and if it is true, etc. etc.  Before you start reading, I want to let you know this website, as it is now, did not exist until March 21st, 2013 when I chose to try and figure out the source of the image and its veracity.

Offering statistics is a tricky thing.  However, I discovered some statistics based on research done by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics that are a lot more reliable then what is presented in the original FearUs.org's image...

From Bureau of Justice Statistics during 2005-10:
  • 78% of sexual violence involved an offender who was a family member, intimate partner, friend or acquaintance
  • 58% of female victims of sexual violence suffered a physical injury
  • 23% rape or sexual assault victims received help or advice from a victim service agency

DISCLAIMER - Just to reiterate, I have no connection to the original rape survey image or to the Feminists Earning a Reputation (the fearus.org on the image). I just bought the domain name in 2013.
